NEWER PROGRAMS:

Affrilachian Folktales - African American folktales, fables, and fool tales, from the hills and valleys of Appalachia. Humor and heart in stories rooted in my family's storytelling traditions

Turtle-shell Tales - African and African American tales of the folksy and fabled turtle or tortoise. Silly stories include rhythm and rhyme, a little history, and a lot of heart.

Let's Have a Story - A version of my "Let's Throw Stories" program, prepped specifically for younger audiences, grades Pre-K - 2. Highly interactive versions of African and Affrilachian folktales about critters like Rabbit, Turtle, Frog, Bear, Fox, Wolf, and Spider, geared to little ones and the big folks who love them.

How?Why?Huh??? Animal Pourquoi Tales - For elementary school-aged participants and writing sessions, a collection of diverse animal folktales about how some critters came to be the way they are., size, line height, color and more by highlighting part of me and selecting the options from the toolbar.

  • STUDENT WORKSHOP SESSIONS: These “playshops” can be shared as single-class or single-grade experiences, or as part of three-day to weeklong residencies. Playshops (interactive workshops) link the gifts of the oral tradition and literary resources with:
